When a county sells tax-defaulted property for more than the taxes and costs owed, the surplus may be claimable by former owners or lienholders within a set period. We locate the county record, confirm the claim window and the priority rules, and prepare the claim for your signature. Counties are activated one at a time after their sources and procedures are verified.

States hold unclaimed property reported by banks, employers and companies. Owners can almost always search and claim directly through the state program at no cost; we explain that option first and help only where you ask us to.
